A great teaching tool, and fun, too! Aug 15, 2006
By Mocha Miller You know the drill: Your kids receive money it burns a hole in their pocket until they find the nearest dollar store and blow their wad. They become absolutely compelled to spend it ASAP. They have forgotten, for the moment, about the toy they have been talking about for the last 5 months. But when a few days pass, and their latest "thing" has lost it's luster, the pining for the long-desired "it" begins anew. Let's face it, kids just aren't natural savers. (Are any of us, really?) We endured this scenario for years with all of our children until last Christmas we bought this bank for my 5 year old. Since then, my son has been putting all the money he receives into the "Uncle Sam." I picked this bank because it shows him how much money is in it every time a deposit is made, and it only opens when $10 is reached. And there is NO way to get it open before then...believe me, he and my 8 year old have tried. It has worked out beautifully as a teaching tool, and the kids LOVE to hear the "ka-ching" every time a deposit is made. It has been so great, that we will now be purchasing one for our other 3 children when their birthdays come around. I HIGHLY recommend this bank!

Toys Apr 21, 2010

I bought this toy for my grandson when he was four. Sounds kind of young for this type of toy I know, but he is a very intelligent child and was learning about money and was even schooled in ATM machines, My daughter has told me this is a wonderful tool, but shortly after he received it the coin mechanism became jammed and my son-in-law had to keep un-jamming it. She says that to this day it is still jammed and a hassle to work on all the time. My son-in-law was unsuccessful the last time he tried to un-jam it so it sits in Lian's closet, unused.

Uncle Sam cash register bank Jan 07, 2008
By C. mcmullen I love this bank. My brother and I each had them as kids, and my mother had one as a child as well. This is for my 7 year old and he has been obsessed with earning money to insert in the bank since he got it! I love the shiny silver color...very fresh! These banks are very strong and durable...and will definitely last for many years like the one my mom had (and still has) as a kid...they are EXACTLY like the originals!

Ours is over 20 years old! Oct 03, 2007
By J. Gniadek I've had this exact bank since I was a child. My 10 year old son now uses it. It's great and he loves it. It really helps them to save their change up to $10. I highly recommend this bank for children about 6 and up.

Don't bother Jul 27, 2010
By Jen I bought this last week and it arrived on Friday. After taking it out of the box I was surprised to see that it was slighty rusty with little speckles of rust on it. I was intent on returning it immedetiately to get the black on instead. However the cardboard box that it was packaged in got completely torn to shreds by my impatient kids that didn't understand why the bank that they had wanted so badly had to get returned. So they immediately in tempts to "save" their bank put money in it knowing it would only open at ten dollars. At around 4.30 the cents part stopped working, appearing to have popped off its track on the inside of the bank. Now I have a bank that cost 25.00 that doesn't work.
So all in all, save your 25.00 and buy a different bank. Because this one is not worth the price of 25.00 I'm just glad I bought one to test before buying another one (Spending 50.00 on banks seemed a bit ridicious at the time and I'm glad it did)
