Great, relatively inexpensive piece to add to your Thomas set Apr 03, 2008
By BostonMom I bought this item for my son, along with a small starter track, because I wasn't sure how much he'd play with it and I didn't want to spend a ton of money if it wasn't going to get much use -- any parent knows what I'm talking about!
My son loves opening/closing the gates (one gate triggers the two alternating sounds) and also pressing the button to make the sounds. There are also two red flashing lights.
Seeing how much fun he has with it, I am extremely happy that I purchased it for him.
p.s. Since I bought this I've also bought him a few other "destinations" as they are called, and I have noticed that he seems to enjoy the ones that make noise and/or have lights - not sure if that would help or not, but I just thought I'd mention it.

Fun but made cheaply. Jun 21, 2010
By Uncle Rico I bought this for my two sons as an addition to their Thomas set. They enjoy the blinking lights and sounds tremendously. It is a good addition to have but it is not what I was expecting in quality from the Thomas the Train series of toys. The loose sets we bought had a standard of high build quality and well deserving of the high price point. This was of poor construction and materials. The gates do not even align properly. The tabs to connect the rails to the crossing is made of plastic when they are usually made of solid wood. Obvious short cuts were exercised.

What a great addition to any Thomas set! Jul 25, 2008
By D. Carney I bought this railroad crossing for my 3 year old son as an addition to his new Thomas table railway set, and he just LOVES it! He loves to open and close the gate and listen to the bells and watch the lights. It's a small enough piece that it doesn't take up a lot of room on the table, and he's gotten so much enjoyment from it. It seems very durable and not too expensive a piece. My 5 year old daughter also loves playing with her little brother's train table!

Deluxe RR Crossing for Wooden Thomas and Friends Feb 05, 2010

Lights, sound, and gates you can move. My sons have fun using this with the wooden Thomas track, or without. Sometimes they use this to play with cars instead of the Thomas toys. Fun accessory and well crafted.

My kids love this. Dec 31, 2011
By Jacqueline C Kelly I bought this to go with the "100 Piece Bulk Wooden Train Track" I got here. As far as compatibility goes, this works fine. It's a different type of connector, so it fits a little loose, but it's not a big deal. We use Chuggington cars, and they work fine on this and the track I got. My 19-month-old son just loves the noises this makes, and I love how the arms swing back and forth. This is a really good buy, and I think it's well worth the $22 price tag.
