My go-to game May 05, 2010

Phase 10 Twist is a LOT of fun and is my favorite variation of the game (I've tried them all). I like it because unlike the regular Phase 10 card game, everyone gets to advance even if they don't phase out on their hand (if you don't phase you move one space, if you do phase you move two spaces, and if you go out you move three spaces). So the longest you get stuck on a phase (besides the 10th one) is two turns. The twist is really fun too - it mixes up the game and keeps it interesting with ten new phases. If you don't make your phase when you're trying to "twist" you have to move back one space, but if you DO, you move forward double spaces. Sometimes regular Phase 10 can take a really long time (especially with a lot of people), but Phase 10 Twist keeps the game moving. I highly recommend it.
Fun number game Jan 15, 2012
By swannest Phase 10 board game is fun with the board and not just the cards. It adds a little twist to the whole thing. Great to play with friends.

an interesting twist on Rummy and better than the original Phase 10 Nov 10, 2011
By Matthew Cordeiro I've played the original Phase 10, but after a few plays of the Twist version, I can safely say it's better than the original. For those not familiar with Phase 10, it's essentially rummy with a predetermined objective, for example 4 of a kind or a run of 7 cards. Each phase's objective becomes harder as you work your way from phase 1 to phase 10.
Phase 10 Twist adds several twists to the original. First, there's a board with a phase track, including Twist spots in between some phases. At the end of each round, players move forward 1, 2, or 3 spaces depending on how well they did that round. The scoring system keeps players in the game and reduces the chance of a blowout win. If a player ends up on a Twist spot, they have the option of choosing a special Twist phase, which are of varying difficulty but are generally more difficult than the normal phases. Of course, the reward is bigger for accepting such a challenge - players move forward double the normal amount of spaces. Basically, the Twist spots offer a high-risk, high-reward option.
The final twist is a tray in the center of the board that holds 3 discard piles. This takes away some of the "luck of the draw" speeds up the game. It also makes discard decisions more strategic as you have to decide which pile to discard to. Overall, the twists offered in this version of Phase 10 add some decisions and risk, reduce the luck of the draw, and speed up the game. All of these make the original rummy spinoff much more enjoyable.
Lots of family fun. Feb 05, 2011
By Vicki Alter My family loves to get together to play games and this is a spin-off of the phase ten game that can last forever. This speeds the game up and we enjoy playing whenever we are together.
