Too many tiny parts! Feb 19, 2010
I thought my 4 1/2 year old would really like this as she has seen the little "critters" in our local toy store. But she's barely played with it since Christmas. It may be more of a show piece/ collector kind of toy. There are all these tiny paper books and boxes that could be easily lost and smushed. I think it's probably better for an older child.

My granddaughter was fortunate to receive the Calico Critters that her own Mom had as a child. Obviously they are well made to last 30 years! For Christmas we added the Preschool, Grandparents and another Kitty family. She really enjoys them tremendously. She just turned 5 and we added the carrying case, the Bunny twins, carriage and the bunk beds. We have really enjoyed building on her collection and she has had countless hours of fun using her imagination in bringing them all to life.

High quality, lots of fun for little kids.
It is however a good idea if children are under 5 yrs for parents open the package and place stickers and assemble the tiny boxes as they are difficult to fold.
My granddaughters play with this and with the Cozy Cottage for hours at a time. I will add to the collection for them as they use the little animals and toy buildings as intended and seem to have started a "village".

Such a cute playset. Lots of accessories included. A great starter set if your child is just discovering Calico Critters.

My daughter recived this set for Christmas. I remember the Sylvanian Family from when I was young and was thrilled to see these again. This was our first peice from the Critters. She loves it, we have since added on the house, a few families, some more furniture, the family room and nursery. Both of my kids will play with this for hours. The pieces are small so we are very carfeful and put them away in a safe place after play. Great for imaganitive play.
