Okay, he's supposed to be 8 feet tall, but this great replica of Gort, the invincible robot policeman from The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) is still impressive at 5". No joints or seams here - just a solid metal figurine plated with nickel. He's heavier than he looks and always surprises guests who pick him up. The only complaint I have is that the finish is shiny and reflective, rather than the dull finish he sported in the movie, but that's actually my fault for not knowing there was already a regular die-cast version without the nickel plating. Still, it's a small complaint for such a great figurine. He comes in a window box with cover flap, enabling easy display without removal, but why wouldn't you want to turn him loose on the public? Just be sure you know the command words in case of emergency...

This little guy guards over me all the time from his perch on my bookcase. All you have to say is "Gort, Michael Barada Nikto" and he'll come to life, grow to 8 feet tall, rescue me and NOT destroy the world in the process.

Okay, I'm a total dork... Why does an adult buy a product like this? Well, I love the movie "The Day the Earth Stood Still." Original. If you're reading this then you're probably a lot like me. You know what? This is a freakin' awesome figure! Okay, it's small. BUT substantial! Heavy! It really is special... Box is cool too... If you are a fan of the movie or just love Gort, get this! You will NOT be disappointed. Put it this way, it will be on my desk always... No lie. That's about the best endorsement I can give...
