Really cute, easy for little people to build Dec 17, 2008
By Carol
"kepela"
I bought this for my two year old grandson, even though it says for three and up. I figured we'd play with it together. Once I started building the tracks, he started right in putting them together. I got the battery in the train and off we were. I think it's a little over priced, but a really fun toy that we played with for hours. The tracks are very well made and I think the train will hold up well too. There are a few small pieces that don't stay on, like the little signs, so I just put them away, but the tracks, house and train are just fine for this little two year old, who loves his new train set.

Very durable for a 2-year old Nov 30, 2008
By J. M. Pena Bought this for my 2 1/2 year old son earlier this year. He messed with it, but did not seem to grasp the concept of letting the train run independently on the track. Now that he is only about 6 months older, he is so interested in playing with it. I recently purchased more of the engines that also came equipped with cars and items (sheep, logs) that came with them. He LOVES this now. I can honestly say that he has played with this non-stop now for 3 days. VERY durable. As you can imagine, he is more rough than an older child would be, and the trains keep running. What I love about this train set is that the pieces of the track are very easily snapped together and very easy to disassemble. Works well running on carpet or more solid surfaces. I'm looking forward to adding to this set. Would definitely recommend this item, and all that relate.

Good Fun and Good Value Feb 08, 2008
By Sharon Peart I bought this Thomas train set for my 3 year old son's birthday and though he likes it, my 12 years old son seems to be enjoying it more. I had another train & tracks from the another Thomas set and I think for this set to be really fun you should definitely invest in another train and some more track. My boys make different track patterns and enjoy racing the trains. I would recommend this toy since my kids seem to enjoy it.
I definitely give it 5 stars for durability because my little boy is not the most careful [like any other 3 years old] and the train has withstood all the falls and throws - not a scratch. I like the fact that the battery component is securely hidden under the train and even gives me a challenge to get to the battery.

Easy to use! Feb 18, 2009
By Luckys Toy Store My kids love these. I'm not sure why the company name changed or what. But they are just like the Tomy brand that we bought. The kids did want to get the new track though even though we had tons of the blue tracks. My children have take along, wooden thomas & trackmaster and by far they love the trackmaster the best because they are battery powered. We do go through battries but the kids love it. This was one of the best buys we made.

Excellent starter set, great value, brake did not work Dec 14, 2008
By Ramkumar Balaraman This is a very simple train set, excellent value as a starter set if you're unsure if the kid you're getting it for will like trains. If he/she already has other train sets, this is probably too simple for them; its just one loop of track.
I got it for my 4-year old nephew, and he loved it. Like most boys his age, he likes to improvise and hold down the train still or drag it backwards on the track while its motor is trying to propel it forward. Though I cringed at that, the train still continued to run when he let it go. That's a big plus in my book for its durability. However, the manual brake on the track at the 'station' which is supposed to lift the train off the track to keep it from moving did not work. He didn't seem to mind though.
Perhaps the biggest surprise for us all was that my sister's 5-month old daughter was totally enthralled by it. She'd scream each time her cousin held back the train from moving, and hop up and down excitedly while it moved on the track, while trying to reach out to it when it passed her. That sight alone made it a worthwhile buy.
BTW, if you're wondering who 'Thomas' is, you've probably never met a 3-yr-old in a long time.
