 It broke once my daughter got the hang of it Jul 16, 2010
I bought this toy when my daughter was less than a year old (so we've had it a little over a year now). And now that she's almost two years old, she is able to turn the handle properly to operate the jack in the box and the music won't play anymore.
Not enough "pop" May 20, 2010
I got this jack in the box for my infant son because he loves to be surprised, and his favorite game is peek-a-boo so I thought he would love this toy. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Maybe jack just needs to be broken-in a little more, but I have been disappointed with the slow, ambling way jack pops out of his box. My son is not interested at all in this "lazy" jack, and I'm guessing its due to jack's inability to pop quickly out of the box. Otherwise it looks like a well-made toy, so I am going to give it a bit more time.....

I ordered this for my 10 month old baby. From the photo I wasn't sure what the quality would be, but I was very impressed with both the appearance and durability of the toy. It plays the traditional pop goes the weasel song as you crank the arm, and the clown pops up right when the music does the Pop. I think it looks very beautiful and has that sort of vintage look. My baby did figure out quite quickly how to open it without turning the crank and waiting for it to pop, but he still enjoyed it. It of course has the usual drawbacks of the baby pinching their own finger by trying to close it, but that is the case with any jack in the box. I think it would make a great baby shower gift or birthday gift for a one-year old.

I was very happy with this toy.I had ordered it as a Christmas gift to replace the one that a little six yr old autistic boy that I work with had. I had looked in several stores and could not come up with one that was the quality as far as sturdiness,sound and the cuteness of the clown inside as his old one.When I recieved this one I was extremely pleased,. It was colorful, sturdy,had a good sound and the clown was very cute.It was reasonably priced and I had it within days after ordering it.Thank-you I was very happy with this purchase.
 stopped playing music Jan 06, 2010
I bought three of these for my own child and family members. After ONE week with NO rough play - just normal use - two of the boxes stopped playing music. The jack still pops out of the box, but there is no music at all. Very VERY dissappointing because my little 2 yr old really liked it at first. I plan to return them if possible. I will write another review about the return process for these faulty toys.
