Gordon---Fastest and Best, he pulls the Express Aug 05, 2010

Talking Gordon is one of my 2 year old son's top 3 favorite Thomas the Tank engines. For one, he's a big train and comes with a tender car. Secondly, he talks! And thirdly, his lantern lights up.
Talking Gordon is almost identical to the regular one, with the addition of a small amount of plastic on the back cab part of the train. There is also a small button on top of the roof of the cab. The rest of the train is in wood, just like the traditional ones, and very well made.
Gordon runs on button batteries, which are replaceable, and despite heavy use over a couple months, he has shown no sites of running low on power.
He has 3 sayings:
1. Hello, I'm Gordon
2. Fastest and best, I pull the Express
3. Clickety Clack, Express on the track
All in his very signature voice and inflections. Again, as I've noted in my other Thomas and Friends reviews, the volume level is just right, and on the quiet side. Very good choice by The Learning Curve, as kids area already inundated by obnoxious and loud noises.
When you're outfitting your child's main engines, I would highly recommend choosing this talking version over the regular one. On Amazon, the price difference is minimal, especially when you see how much enjoyment it will give.

Captures Gordon's Personality Feb 10, 2011

Gordon is a little full of himself, he's a big strong engine who pulls the express. "Express coming through!" he says. When asked to pull freight cars, Gordon says, "Oh, the indignity!" Therefore he's a very fun addition to a Thomas collection.
My son already had about 5 engines, including Talking James. He enjoys Talking James more because of his cute sayings "Fizzling Fireboxes!" and the light-up lantern at the front. Therefore he was so excited to get Talking Gordon that he's played with him non-stop. He took Gordon to meet the other engines and there has been constant button pressing. Thankfully, the sound level is lower, which means it never annoys us.
Gordon is a big engine, with 8 wheels. To account for this, the front six wheels are on a separate, rotating piece so that Gordon doesn't go off the tracks.
When the button on the cab is pressed, there are four sounds: Gordon's whistle and Gordon saying "Hello, I'm Gordon, "Fastest and best, I pull the express!", "Clickety clack, express on the track!". Gordon's personality comes right through with his petulat voice.
Talking James had his batteries wear out, but we ordered very inexpensive AG13 button cell batteries from Amazon (fifty for five dollars). So we have replacements if Gordon ever needs them.
Note that the talking engines like Talking Thomas, Talking Percy, Talking James, and Talking Gordon all have buttons that you press to make them talk. Don't confuse this with the Talking Railway series, which has wooden engines that don't talk but trigger Talking Railway features like Cranky and the station to talk (in Sir Topham Hatt's voice).
My 3 year old loves his talking engines and I highly recommend them!

This is an excellent toy - nice and durable, unlike the trackmaster version. It's not too noisy - loud enough to hear, but not loud enough to drive a parent crazy.

Gordon is a quality toy. My son loves it. The wheels are different than I expected. I recommend this to anyone who likes Thomas and Friends.

My son is a thomas fan. He was abscessed with this talking gordon for almost a month, and he asked us to draw over 20 gordons everyday. I cannot tolerate him anymore, so finally bought this engine for him. Now I'm at peace. No one tortures me anymore...
Amazon definitely has the best deal of this engine, I mean if there's no other promotions going on in other stores (TRU or so). The only complain about it is the sound is kinda weak, weaker than all other talking engines we have so far. I guess the battery is not new in this engine.
Other than that, everything is perfect.
