All my son wanted for Christmas, and it broke within a day Jan 07, 2010
By J. Howard This "Thomas the Train with a light and a button" was ALL my 4 year old son wanted for Christmas, and it was the only thing he managed to ask Santa for. Christmas morning it was in his stocking, but he (and I) were HUGELY disappointed that the lights and sounds stopped working within 24 hours. My husband replaced the battery in it (one of the stranger, harder to find batteries out there), and it made a little gurgling noise for about 15 seconds, before dying completely. I might have chalked this up to an unlucky experience, if it weren't for the fact that the "lights and sounds" James we also got did the same thing within a week. We love the Thomas line on the whole, but this train is NOT a reliable engine, and honestly broke my little boy's heart. Avoid it!

Great train. Apr 18, 2009

My son is a huge fan of Thomas and this train is a favorite of his...he loves the sounds and light. It sounds with motion, so as he pushes it along the tracks it makes the engine noise. Durable and not too loud which is a bonus for me!

A Favorite of My Son's Nov 13, 2009
By M. A. Truong-Tran My son loves this Thomas engine. The light is attractive on the engine. The sound of the engine is somewhat loud for me, but my son loves the sound and will watch this engine as it moves it along the tracks.
Fun.. until the batteries die Jun 22, 2011

My son was so excited to get and play with this train. It's a great train and I would give it a higher rating if finding replacement batteries weren't so IMPOSSIBLE to find (not the typical AA/AAA kind). I have been searching high and low, and would LOVE to know where to buy them. Without the lights and sounds, it's just like any other train.. just more expensive.
No longer chugs and toots!! May 08, 2010
By Pacific Dreamer This train is really cute and our son was really excited to receive it for his 2nd Birthday in August! Unfortunately by Christmas - just barely over the 90 day warranty - the "tooting" sound quit working. We figured the batteries must already by starting to fail because the chugging sound would work occasionally, while the light would pretty constantly come on. We bought 2 new replacement cell batteries, but sadly this was not the fix!! I'm not sure if we just ended up with a faulty train, but it has made us skeptical of purchasing any of the Thomas "Talking Railway Series", especially with a limited 90 day warranty. (TOO bad the lifetime warranty wooden Thomas trains used to have no longer exists!)
